Selma director Ava DuVernay has just been set by Disney to direct A Wrinkle In Time, an adaptation of the 1963 Newbery Medal-winning Madeleine L’Engle fantasy classic novel that has a script by Oscar-winning Frozen writer and co-director Jennifer Lee. Deadline revealed February 8 that DuVernay had been offered this film and was also in the mix at DreamWorks for Intelligent Life, a sci-fi thriller scripted by Colin Trevorrow and his Jurassic World collaborator Derek Connolly.

DuVernay now has the offer on that film and is in negotiations on a pic that has 12 Years A Slave Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o attached to a fable about a UN worker in a department designed to represent mankind if there was ever contact with aliens, who falls for a mystery woman who turns out to be one. That film is produced by Frank Marshall, Trevorrow and Big Beach principals Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub.

It is unclear which film will go first, but A Wrinkle in Time was first to close and it is the culmination of six months of courtship by Disney Motion Pictures president Sean Bailey and exec Tendo Nagenda.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have left the status of their relationship very up in the air, but pal Jason Bateman did give ET a little insight into the rumored couple's dynamic.

Earlier this month, the Golden Globe winner was pictured out at Sunset Tower in Hollywood with the pair and costar friend Jennifer Aniston at a birthday dinner for Bloom's manager, Aleen Keshishian.

"They are fun," Bateman told ET at the Hollywood premiere of his new animated film, Zootopia, on Wednesday.

Though Bateman played it coy, he couldn't hide the fact that Perry and Bloom have been spending a lot of time together recently. The two were first spotted getting cozy at a Golden Globes after-party back in January and since then have been seen together often.

On Saturday, they attended the same pre-GRAMMYs brunch at the Cicada restaurant in Los Angeles. The day before the party, they were photographed at the sold-out Adele concert in L.A., which Perry's ex, John Mayer, also attended with a mystery brunette.

As for Bateman, the father of two is happy to be lending his voice to Zootopia, a project his kids can appreciate.

Coldplay will get in good practice for their finale set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival as they bring the NME Awards with Austin, Texas to a close with a foot-stomping romp through their biggest hits.

The four piece will pick up their Godlike Genius award at the ceremony on Wednesday, just one day after being announced as the first band to headline Glastonbury four times, and will play a career-spanning set.

Joining in the celebrations will be Yoko Ono, who is picking up the Inspiration Award at this year’s event at Brixton’s O2 Academy just hours before she turns 83.

There’ll be more than a few surprises for the audience at the annual music awards, including waiting to hear if Kanye West will win the hero and villain of the year gongs, having been nominated for both.

He joins politicians in the shape of Donald Trump, six-times nominee David Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne, plus radio host Chris Moyles and X Factor judge Simon Cowell on the list for villain of the year.

But his nomination for hero of the year lauds him alongside Adele, Taylor Swift, Dave Grohl, Florence Welch, and token politician, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Coldplay will be headlining the Sunday night slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The four-piece announced the gig on social media with a picture of the festival’s famous Pyramid Stage mid-construction and a sign with hot air balloon imagery from their new album A Head Full Of Dreams.

Coldplay will be the first band to headline at Worthy Farm in Somerset four times, after outings in 2002, 2005 and 2011.

It follows their performance at the Super Bowl 50 half-time show when the band played a selection of their greatest hits and were joined on stage by Beyonce and Bruno Mars.

After their Super Bowl performance, their latest album jumped to number one in the charts, having been kept off the top spot by fellow Brit Adele’s 25 when it was first released in December.

Coldplay are the first headliner announced for the festival, although Jeff Lynne’s ELO have been confirmed for the Sunday teatime slot.

met her in person (right, guys?) – and it turns out Lionel Richie is no different.

Talking on the red carpet at the Grammys on Monday, he told CBS, “I’m here to meet her backstage. My opening line is going to be ‘Hello, it’s me’ and she’s going to be like, ‘No, is it me you’re looking for?’”

As Twitter so quickly pointed out, Monday night’s Grammy tribute to Lionel would have been the perfect place for a Hello/Hello mash-up.

Instead, we’ll have to settle for the equally wondrous moment, actually captured on camera, where Adele and Lionel Richie finally said “hello”.

While she was not eligible for a Grammy nod at this year’s awards, Adele performed “All I Ask” off her album 25. The owner of the best selling album of 2015 interestingly chose not to perform here smash hit “Hello” or recently released single “When We Were Young,” perhaps in an effort to give some of her deeper cuts some exposure.

Adele appeared to run into some sound issues off the start, but she was able to power through and deliver a strong performance, a testament to her ability as a performer.

The British singer has already broken NSYNC’s first week sales record — once thought to be an impossibility in an era of streaming and illegal downloading. Now with 3.38 million units sold already, she figures to get another bump for making a Grammy appearance.

Don’t worry, Adele fans—she isn’t going to disappear again anytime soon. She recently announced a 2016 world tour, which will undoubtedly wind up as one of, if not the biggest of 2016. A grand world tour will be the perfect filler between now and next year’s Grammy awards, where she will most certainly receive multiple nods.

At this rate, by then, all 10 of of the tracks from 25 will see the top of the charts.

That blood you saw on Alice Cooper’s shirt toward the end of the 58th annual Grammy Awards? It belonged to the guy who was running Adele’s sound.

That particular Grammy moment was an “owie” moment, on a night that had more than its fair share of low points. But, fortunately, the telecast did have performances that will be remembered more fondly around the watercooler — including knockout turns from Kendrick Lamar, the cast of Hamilton beaming in from Broadway, and Gwen Stefani beaming in from an undisclosed roller rink.

The show’s highs and lows:

LOW: SONIC KRYPTONITE FELLS ADELE

What the…? From the opening moments, it was clear that something had gone dreadfully wrong to sabotage what everyone expected to be the vocally unassailable performance of the night.

Rumor had it (sorry) that a piano microphone had fallen into the instrument, accounting for the horrific clanging at the beginning of the tune. Whether that or poor monitors were the culprit, Adele was… it hurts to even say the word… pitchy. And also heroic, given the clearly daunting circumstances. She later tweeted: “The piano mics fell on to the piano strings, that’s what the guitar sound was. It made it sound out of tune. S— happens. Because of it though… I’m treating myself to an in n out. So maybe it was worth it.”

Your turn, Tay! Katy Perry revealed to the New York Times on Thursday, February 11, that she has invited her archnemesis Taylor Swift to her pre-Grammys party, and the reason for the invite is flattering.

“You have to be a creator — it’s artists, producers and songwriters,” Perry, 31, told the paper of those she reached out to. “And it’s a mixture of new and familiar artists, a combination of the past two years’ Grammy nominees and also [acts] from the Spotify Discover playlist. It’s Kacey Musgraves, Karen O, Miguel, Tove Lo, Shirley Manson, Max Martin. Then up-and-coming songwriters like Blood Pop and Bonnie McKee all under the same roof as Diane Warren. In some ways, I’m trying to start the Met Ball of music.”

Perry confirmed that fellow megastars Adele and Swift, who have withheld their music from Spotify, were still invited to the bash, which is sponsored by the streaming music service. “It’s just up to their schedules,” Perry noted. The black tie affair will be held at Cicada in downtown L.A. on Saturday, February 13, and publicists, journalists and managers are not invited.

“They are not creators. They’re important to the creation, but it’s only artists, producers and songwriters,” the “Firework” singer explained. “There’s a press opportunity in the front, like a red carpet, but if you want to be more low-key you can arrive via garage. I’m trying to keep it as pure as possible because in the eight years that I’ve been going to these things, I am just always so exhausted.”

From the words of Adele, "Send my love to your new lover."

Rumored couple Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom attended the singer's sold-out concert at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Friday, where Perry's ex, John Mayer, wasn't too far away -- with a mystery brunette.

INF
Looks like Mayer's new girl has a broad taste in music -- just check out that Tupac shirt!

AKM-GSI
The exes didn't cross paths, however, as a source tells ET that Perry entered through the front of the venue, while Mayer made his way into the show through a back entrance. Mayer and the new girl didn't hold hands or show any PDA either, and at times it looked like they were trying to avoid being photographed together.

Inside the theater, Adele performed hits from her latest record-breaking album, 25, for approximately 1,000 people, including other A-listers like Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Sam Smith, Josh Groban, Robbie Williams, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. Williams, a British pop singer, is a good friend of Adele's, and the pair even went on a double date the night before.

Adele couldn’t have been more modest when she played to a sold out crowd at at a pre-Grammy event at The Wiltern in Los Angeles Friday night. Even playing the small, historic venue that only seats 1,850 was a nicety for the superstar. Her album 25 sold more than 3 million copies in a week and in August she’s booked six dates at the Staples Center.

Wearing a simple black dress, she humbly took the stage after being introduced by her Carpool Karaoke buddy and The Late Late Show host James Corden. She opened with “Hello” and spent the night telling silly stories about how differently she looks from the first time she played at The Wiltern in 2009, freaking out at Disneyland on Thursday when her favorite character (Belle from Beauty and the Beast) talked to her son and even singing happy birthday to a fan. She also said that it was her idea to keep the night’s ticket prices low; she wanted to charge less than the $50 cost.

While many of the British singer’s songs are depressing tales of heartache, her giddy and lively disposition prevailed, leaving the audience feeling upbeat. The 16-song set included picks from her three albums, 19, 21, and 25, a mixture of hits and lessor-known tracks, but all were well received.

After playing the first few songs with her full band, she stripped things down for “Million Years Ago” and “Send My Love,” playing with just the string instruments. The audience was excited to hear “Chasing Pavements,” the second single from her debut and her first Top 40 hit.

When playing “Hello” for the second time of the night, she asked the crowd to takeover and they did, singing nearly the entire record, lyric for lyric. During the serenade, the pop star gushed and happily paced across the stage, saying, “That was f******* amazing.”

Adele's 25 is a gift that keeps on giving to the music business, spreading wealth beyond her labels (XL and Columbia/Sony) and publisher (Universal) to retailers, performing rights organizations and, not least, the 16 songwriters and producers who collaborated with her on the album.

The chart below reflects how much each of them has earned from songwriting and producing so far (criteria explained below), using the appropriate standard statutory rates and formulas for sales and interactive and noninteractive streaming, and an estimated hit-song rate of $2.50 per spin for radio airplay. Those rates were applied to U.S. sales of 8 million, such U.S. digital radio noninteractive streaming as iHeartRadio simulcasts (excluding Pandora, which does not report its playlists to Nielsen Music), such U.S. interactive streaming as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube (only for the single “Hello”) and U.S. radio airplay. All airplay and sales data were supplied by Nielsen Music through the week ending Jan. 28.

Billboard estimates that Adele – who co-wrote each song on the album – and other songwriters have reaped almost $9.6 million in royalties; the songwriters’ publishers combined have taken in nearly $1.9 million. The album’s 13 producers and co-producers (many of whom are also songwriters) shared $3.1 million.

It would be somewhat of a surprise if Taylor Swift went to Katy Perry’s party this weekend.

However, as Perry tells it, the invite is out there. While the “Dark Horse” singer is not attending the GRAMMYs this year, she is hosting “An Evening to Celebrate the Creators,” which is billed as an event for artists and producers to connect, free from publicists, managers, and press, and is taking place on Saturday night ahead of Monday’s awards show.

Spotify is a sponsor of the event, and despite the fact that Swift and Adele have both withheld their music from the streaming service, they are both welcome to the party.

“It’s just up to their schedules,” Perry told the New York Times on Thursday.

Swift’s presumed feud with Perry dates back to a Rolling Stone interview Swift gave in 2014 about a fellow artist.

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Swift told the magazine. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?’”

Shortly after the article was published, Perry tweeted a Mean Girls reference: “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…”

When Karl Lagerfeld, the reigning King of Fashion, fat shames you, there’s no better revenge than to step out in some gorgeous outfits. For Adele, who became the target of the Kaiser’s out-of-touch body opinions a few years back, she proved that even people who are “a little roundish” can drop mics both literally in regards to music and figuratively in the sartorial sense. And looking great — and doing even greater things — is like one large metaphorical f** you (to him, all her exes, and anyone else that’s ever doubted her).

With her hit comeback album 25 and an upcoming international tour, Adele posed for the cover of American Vogue and talked with Hamish Bowles about her music, son, confidence, and more. “I was just shocked that all of a sudden I was 25!” she told the magazine. “But actually, I like myself more than ever. I feel so comfortable in my own skin. I really like how I look, I like who I am, I like everyone that I surround myself with.” Photo: Annie Leibovitz/Courtesy of Vogue

Zayn Malik is celebrating after his debut solo single PillowTalk topped the charts in 60 countries, including America. The 23-year-old entered the US Billboard Hot 100 at number one – a chart position he never managed to achieve during his time in One Direction.

Despite the boy band's popularity in the States, they are yet to top the Billboard charts and peaked at number two with their single Best Song Ever in 2013. Zayn's solo single has also become only the 25th song ever to debut at number one in the Hot 100, following in the footsteps of Adele's Hello.

The Bradford-born star is evidently thrilled at his chart success, and thanked fans for their support on Twitter on Monday. "What is gwaning :) !! I can't explain the love and gratitude I feel today, thank you for making this happen," he wrote.

Zayn also shared a black-and-white photo of himself clutching a bunch of celebratory balloons, including a silver number one balloon in recognition of his chart success.

Ellie Goulding has said she is scared at the prospect of singing at the Grammy Awards – because “America is just a whole other game”.

The British singer will perform alongside some of the biggest music stars in the world on the show which last year was watched live on television by 25 million people.

She joins Adele, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd on this year’s line-up.

Ellie is nominated for best pop solo performance for her 50 Shades Of Grey soundtrack hit Love Me Like You Do.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on ITV’s Lorraine, she said: “It’s the first time I’ve been nominated. I’ve been before and it’s an amazing night, but this year I’m also performing, so it’s quite scary.

“America is just a whole other game with music.

“I’m going out there in a few days and it’s going to be a hectic week. But they have parties and stuff, so I’m sure it will be balanced out.”

This year’s 58th annual, Grammy Awards is in for a night of big wins, and even bigger performances. Adele, The Weeknd, and Tori Kelly were all announced as performers at the night’s event, and now joining the A-list roster is none of than everyone’s favorite bad gal, Rihanna.

The ANTI singer announced that she would be making an appearance on stage through her Twiiter account saying, “see ya’ll at the #Grammys.” While she and Adele were not nominated for their highly acclaimed albums, it very likely that the Barbadian and British singer will command the nominations next year.

It looks like this year’s ceremony is gearing up to be R&B and hip hop’s biggest night of performances and maybe even bigger wins for artists like Kendrick Lamar and The Weekend. The only question is what song will Rihanna perform from her latest album?

The Grammys will air on CBS on February 15.

Taylor Swift will perform at the 2016 Grammys when music’s biggest night airs Feb. 15 on CBS.

Swift’s addition to the stacked lineup shouldn’t come as a huge shock — after Kendrick Lamar’s 11 nominations, Swift’s total of seven nods ties the Weeknd for second-most Grammy noms this year. All three artists are slated to perform, and all are up for album of the year.

Earlier this week, the performance lineup added Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Diplo, Skrillex, Chris Stapleton, Bonnie Raitt, Gary Clark Jr., Pitbull, Robin Thicke, Travis Barker and the Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry).

Additionally, Adele, James Bay, Andra Day, Ellie Goulding, the Broadway cast of Hamilton, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Lady Gaga (performing a David Bowie tribute), Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd will perform.
