Playboy, the men's lifestyle magazine famous for its nude pictorials, is for sale, and stakeholders are hoping to get about $500 million for it, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The privately held company previously put the famed Playboy Mansion in the Los Angeles area on the market for $200 million, with the unusual stipulation that Hefner remain its inhabitant.

According to the Journal, Playboy would consider splitting off assets rather than selling the whole entity to a single buyer.


Playboy has been struggling amid online competition, and earlier this year the 63-year-old company published its first magazine featuring no female nudity. The issue attracted more advertisers and more newsstands carried it, the company said.

Under CEO Scott Flanders, Playboy also recently adopted a strategy of less skin at its website, leading to a big increase in audience — in part because its now a safe destination to surf while at work — and the median age of visitors dropped.

Playboy was unavailable for comment.

The ‘less is more’ trend seems to be the way to go in terms of many bikinis recently, and that’s certainly the mantra this model chose to adopt when she picked out her latest swimwear look.

Playboy model Cassandra Sienega, who goes by the name CJ Sparkxx on Instagram, has shocked fans with her new barely-there microbikini snap, which leaves basically nothing to the imagination.

The outrageously revealing design features next to nothing in terms of fabric, and her followers want to know one thing: why?

“Should have just used band-aids,” one person wrote.

“That's a nice little nothing you're wearing,” penned another, referring to the fact there was undeniably very little material concealing her modesty.

Newly-single pop star Halsey showed ex-boyfriend G-Eazy what he is missing on Saturday night (28Jul18) by hosting a Playboy party dressed in sexy black lingerie.

The Closer hitmaker, 23, performed at a sold-out show in Las Vegas and celebrated at an after-party at the Cosmopolitan's Marquee Nightclub, where she presented Playboy magazine's Midsummer Night's Dream bash.

The theme of the event was lingerie and sleepwear, and the singer titillated fans by hitting the red carpet in a racy bustier and thong ensemble, which bared her backside. She completed the raunchy look with a garter belt, stockings, and high heels, and accessorised her blonde hair with a black bow.

Halsey's head-turning appearance took place almost four weeks after she announced her split from rapper G-Eazy online.

The couple had been dating for a year when she suddenly wiped all photos of the pair from her Instagram page, and then confirmed the stars had parted ways.

"I normally keep this kind of thing private but provided our public nature I feel I need to inform my fans," she began in the Instagram Story post on 3 July (18). "G-Eazy and I are taking some apart.

"I'm eager to continue the upcoming passage of time dedicating myself to my art and career, and the duration of my tour. I wish him the best. Thanks for respecting our privacy at this time."

The news shocked fans as Halsey had been gushing about her man for months - and in an interview conducted shortly before the break-up, she said, "I love everything about him."

"I haven't found someone who matches every version of me until him," she continued. "Like, he's my left sneaker. For every version of him, there's a version of me to match."

Halsey and G-Eazy have yet to comment on the reason for their split, but rumours at the time suggested the rapper had been unfaithful while on tour in Europe.

Crystal (Harris) Hefner, wife of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, revealed on Sunday that she’s been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

The 29-year-old model shared the news in a cautionary message posted to Instagram, warning followers to get tested for the illness if they “have EVER GONE HIKING” because it is spread by deer ticks, which are often found in the wilderness.


“I was diagnosed a few days ago and have a long road ahead of me,” Crystal wrote, adding that she doesn’t even remember getting bit by a tick at any point. “The symptoms are vast and when it has been left untreated for a long time can turn into MS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Dementia and ALS.”

“It is a disease so many people are living with and is becoming an epidemic,” she continued, after detailing Lyme disease’s many symptoms. “I always thought I was a hypochondriac. Doctors told me it was just ‘stress’ or 'all in my head’ but I finally figured it out and you can too.”

The day before Crystal shared the news and the dire warning, she seemed much happier. She posted a sexy bikini selfie to Instagram that showed off her flawless figure, in which she looked like the picture of perfect health.

Playboy is maybe the most controversial magazine ever published, racking up scandal after scandal since Hugh Hefner founded it in 1953.

But earlier this month the magazine made perhaps its most controversial decision so far - ditching nude images from its pages and reinventing itself as a lifestyle magazine for men.

On February 12th, social media star Sarah McDaniel (below) became the first model to make the Playboy cover without stripping naked.

It was not the brainchild of editor-in-chief Hefner, but he agreed to the move that would change Playboy forever.

But with the magazine heading in a new non-nude direction, could this signal the end of years of controversy for the magazine?

The Controversial Covers

While Sarah was only too happy to be the first non-nude star in Playboy - even admitting she would consider going naked if required - one of the biggest cover controversies is about a star who didn’t even want to be on the front of the magazine.

Step forward Jessica Alba. The actress was chosen as the publication’s Sex Star of the Year for their March 2006 issue (above), but didn’t fancy being on the cover, so Playboy used a bikini-clad pic of her from one of her Into the Blue movie promotional posters.

Foo Fighter bandmates Dave Grohl and Pat Smear recently paid tribute to the late David Bowie by visiting places in LA that he frequented, including his old house from 1975, which Grohl described as looking like “a mausoleum.”

But in the video for Playboy.com the real highlight is when the two decide to grab a bite at the legendary Rainbow Grill. Grohl tells a story about an attempted collaboration with Bowie for a song for a movie, and how he sent him email asking if he’d like to sing. The next day, Bowie replied saying: “I watched the movie and I got to be honest, it’s not my thing. I’m not made for these times.”

Grohl wrote back thanking Bowie for the consideration, which lead to a reply that he wasn’t sure was to be taken seriously or jokingly. Bowie wrote back: “Alright, well that’s settled then, now f*** off.”
Grohl joins the long list of big-name Bowie rejects including Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who in the wake of his death revealed how they too were denied.

Placentophagy – the consumption of afterbirth, has become the latest fad among celebrities. While the thought of eating one’s own placenta can be obnoxious to many, the phenomena is common among most mammals, and doing so is believed to expedite the healing process of a mother, stimulate milk production, and even ward off postpartum depression. Some Chinese cultures recommend devouring dried placenta for health and fertility benefits.

Kim Kardashian wrote in her blog that she felt energized and didn’t experience any sign of depression after she took her placenta pills.

Leonardo DiCaprio's sole focus is said to be bagging an Oscar, rather than any romance with Rihanna.


The actor has been nominated for a golden statue five times in the past, but has so far walked away empty handed. However it's widely believed he'll finally win an Academy Award on February 28 (16), for his movie The Revenant. He won the Golden Globe for the role, and Leonardo is now said to be focusing all of his attention on the Oscars, so any potential romance with Rihanna has been put on the backburner.

"It's no secret that Leo is desperate to finally win an Oscar this year, having been famously overlooked until now, and he doesn't want his personal life to distract from his campaign," an insider told Britain's Grazia magazine. "Things between him and Rihanna aren't serious, and he's concerned that being painted as a playboy will stop him being taken seriously as a contender. He was even rumoured to have split with Kelly Rohrbach so that his entire focus could be on walking away with an award. Right now, he wants to be known for his work, not his love life."

Rihanna and Leonardo have set tongues wagging for some time over their friendship, and are constantly linked with one another. They were last spotted looking cosy earlier this month (Jan16) at a Parisian nightclub, with reports suggesting they were kissing passionately. Photos were also taken, but Leonardo's lawyer stopped the pictures from being published by invoking French privacy laws.

However Rihanna is said to be less bothered by the alleged snaps.

In October, Playboy announced it would no longer publish photos of full-frontal nudity (the collective cry of the handful of people who had yet to discover the Internet’s massive porn hub couldn’t be heard). The change, which launched on Thursday with the March issue, is just the publication’s latest step away from overt salaciousness (full undress was banned from Playboy.com, making it SFW in 2014) and a weak attempt to attract a younger audience.


The first cover featuring the redesign has “social media model” (whatever that means) Sarah Rose McDaniel, who has different-colored eyes — a condition known as heterochromia iridum — wearing a white tank top with multiple buttons undone, showing off her cleavage. The shirt is rolled up to show her entire torso and her blue-and-white-striped underwear. She’s posing in a way that makes it seem like she’s taking a selfie and sending the image via Snapchat — with the caption “heyyy ;).” It’s raw and apparently unretouched (yet, unlike a photo shared via Snapchat, this image is forever). “The idea was to look at me from a boyfriend’s perspective,” she explained of the image taken by photographer Theo Wenner. 

But will the cheap trick work? Just because millennials and their younger counterparts from Gen-Z log hours on the social media platform doesn’t necessarily mean that playing to it will attract readers. 

“The political and sexual climate of 1953 … bears almost no resemblance to today,” said Playboy Enterprises CEO Scott Flanders. “We are more free to express ourselves politically, sexually, and culturally today, and that’s in large part thanks to Hef’s heroic mission to expand those freedoms.”

Playboy model and 'Queen of Snapchat' Katie May has passed away after suffering a stroke. She was just 34 years old. The star was rushed to hospital on Monday and remained in a critical condition until her death. She was taken off life support on Thursday evening and died surrounded by her loved ones.

"It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the passing today of Katie May – mother, daughter, sister, friend, businesswoman, model and social media star – after suffering a catastrophic stroke caused by a blocked carotid artery on Monday," a statement from her brother Stephen May confirmed.


"Anyone who was lucky enough to know Katie May was truly blessed by her incredible heart, mind and soul," the page says. "She was an inspiration and a guiding light to so many people in this world."

"Please help us by donating money to support her daughter and best friend Mia. Mia was Katie's whole life, so please help Katie, Mia and us by donating money to Mia."

Playboy creator Hugh Hefner’s been getting plenty of negative press lately, mostly in relation to former Playmate Holly Madison’s new tell-all book, Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny. 

But now, someone has come forward to praise Hefner and his long-time liberal, forward-thinking attitude: Caroline “Tula” Cossey, a former Bond girl and the first transgender model to ever appear in Playboy back in 1991, and again in ‘93. 

In a revealing interview with Playboy (her first in 20 years), Cossey — now 60 and married — remembers how Hefner treated her with respect and dignity in a time when the term “trans” was still widely misunderstood.

“I remember being invited to the Mansion to meet Hugh Hefner,” Cossey recalls. “He looked into my eyes and I immediately knew he felt my story. He felt my cause.”

A Reddit user by the name Christmaspencil shared a photograph of her grandma to Reddit and Imgur, and she looks JUST like Taylor Swift.

“When your Grandma looks like Taylor Swift and your Grandpa looks like Hugh Hefner’s Brother,” the user captioned the photo on Reddit, also calling out her grandfather’s uncanny similarity to the Playboy founder.

Less than two weeks after giving birth to her son, Saint West, the 35-year-old reality star decided to share some images of herself before she was a mother of two. "At this time back in December 2007 I shot my Playboy cover with Hype Williams," she captioned an Instagram pic of herself at age 27, wearing red lingerie.

Kim also shared another pic with her 54.6 million Instagram followers of herself wearing a mod-like white swimsuit for the Playboy spread.

Prior to sharing these sexy flashback photos, Kim revealed during a livestream on her mobile app that she had gotten up to 190 pounds during her most recent pregnancy and was now looking to lose some weight.
