Dame Judi Dench has made history at the Olivier Awards as she has now won more Oliviers for acting than any other performer.

The veteran star was named best actress in a supporting role for The Winter’s Tale at the ceremony held at London’s Royal Opera House.

Her win for her role as Paulina in the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s production takes her collection of Olivier Awards to eight.

As she collected her award, she joked she was “livid” as her win meant she had lost a bet with her grandson.

She said: “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m absolutely livid as I had a bet with my grandson … and I’m never going to be able to forget it.”

She praised “a really fantastic company and crew and stage management”, saying of the award: “It’s lovely to have, but in actual fact it belongs to all those people just as much as it belongs to me.”

Sherlock creator Mark Gatiss joined the prestigious winners’ list as he was named best actor in a supporting role for Three Days In The Country.

He said: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed, I can’t tell you what this means to me. It was an amazing performance and a gift of a part.

This Morning presenter and former X Factor contestant Rylan Clark-Neal has recreated James Bond’s most iconic moments – including scenes from Skyfall, Casino Royale and Goldfinger.

But despite stepping into the tux and posing with a gold-painted model, Rylan admitted: “I think I’m more of a Dame Judi than a James Bond.”

The TV presenter, who is launching a new late night entertainment show, also has no plans to replace Daniel Craig any time soon.

He explained: “We’ve all seen them trunks, I think they need one more outing.”

He added: “Many of James Bond’s best moments happened late at night and with my brand new show Up Late with Rylan, I have been given a licence to entertain.”

Rylan, 27, posed at a poker table before enjoying a Martini – shaken not stirred, naturally.

He also posed with Bond’s gun-metal grey vintage Aston Martin DB5.

In a more risque shoot, Rylan stepped into Sean Connery’s shoes and recreated a scene from Goldfinger alongside a model playing Jill Masterson.

Rihanna narrowly avoided a rather embarrassing red carpet mishap as her gold dress slipped down on the Ocean’s 8 premiere red carpet.

The singer and actress was left clutching at the low-cut neckline of her metallic gown as she arrived in Leicester Square on Wednesday night.

But while the rather risqué cut of the dress could have spelled disaster for Rude Boy singer, she pulled it off like a pro and managed to maintain her modesty.

The pop star was joined on the red carpet by her all-female co-stars, including Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson and Helena Bonham Carter.

British actress Bonham Carter got in trouble for swearing during the live broadcast from the red carpet.

Edith Bowman asked the actress, who plays Rose Weil in the all-female installment, who she would want to bring on board for an Ocean’s 9.

Racking her brains for a name she said “s***”. Bowman quickly corrected her, saying: “Shoot.”

She threw out Dame Judi Dench before adding: “So many thieves in this world. So many people that can steal things. It would be good to have somebody who doesn’t chat as much as the rest of us.”

The star-studded line-up play a gang of criminals who attempt to steal a $150 million necklace from the Met Gala, in a follow-up to the all-male original.

The American heist film also stars Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Awkwafina and Rihanna. It follows Debbie Ocean, played by Bullock, as she gathers an all-female group to attempt a heist at New York’s Met Gala.

Ocean’s 8 is slated for UK cinema release on June 18

Actress Keeley Hawes has revealed she based her recent Shakespearean TV character on Diana, Princess of Wales.

She stars as Elizabeth Woodville, the commoner Queen of King Edward IV, in The Hollow Crown: The War Of The Roses.

The BBC Two title encompasses the three films celebrating Shakespeare this year, consisting of Henry VI (in two parts) and then Richard III, which is broken up into two three-hour films.

She told the Radio Times she was a “Shakespeare virgin” before she started working on The Hollow Crown.

She said: “I didn’t grow up reading Shakespeare and my family certainly weren’t in the habit of going to see the plays in the theatre.

“I was really frightened of it, frightened of the words and of that whole world. But it’s a box I had to tick. I couldn’t get away with not doing Shakespeare any longer.”

The cast of the films also includes seasoned hands who have tackled the famous bard’s works numerous times, including Dame Judi Dench, Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugh Bonneville.

Describing her character, she said: “I started reading about the real-life Elizabeth and I decided to see my character as a sort of Princess Diana figure.

“Elizabeth is incredibly bright and able – far ahead of her game politically – but she is looked down on by the royal family because she’s been married before.”
