Bear stood in front of Michelle Collins, Samantha Barks, Alex Scott and Jason Gardiner and explained the importance of keeping hydrated when out in the wild (nothing wrong with that).

Then he said it’s important to keep hydrated even when there’s no way to boil contaminated water. (Errm okay, but how?)

And THEN he said that rectal rehydration – aka sticking a tube inside your bum and holding the connecting bag of water up high – is an effective way of getting liquid into your body without ingesting it through your mouth so you don’t get sick. (I’m sorry, WHAT?)

And with that, Bear set up what he described as a “rough and ready field hospital”, dropped his pants and had himself some rectal rehydration.

Viewers were pretty happy about that cheeky glimpse of Bear’s bum. (Bear bum, geddit?)

Once he was, ahem, *done*, he informed the not-so-happy campers that it was now their turn to have a go.

Soap star Michelle Collins and former England footballer Stuart Pearce are among the seven celebrities who have signed up for Bear Grylls: Mission Survive.

Michelle made her name as Cindy Beale in BBC One’s EastEnders and played Coronation Street landlady Stella Price from 2011-2014.

The footballer, 53, was known to millions of fans by the nickname Psycho due to his uncompromising style of play. He is best remembered for his playing days at Nottingham Forest, though he has also been a manager.

The ITV series, presented by Bear, will see the seven celebrities battle through the wilds of Africa on a 12-day survival expedition.

They will be pushed to their psychological and physical limits in order to see who has the qualities needed to become Bear’s mission survivor.

In addition to Michelle and Stuart, Grantchester actor Neil Morrissey, Les Miserables actress Samantha Barks and Casualty’s Chelsee Healey will join Arsenal and England Ladies footballer Alex Scott and choreographer Jason Gardiner, best known for being the acerbic judge on ITV’s Dancing On Ice, have all signed up.

“Allison, want to start with you. What is this love affair, this relationship, with The Bachelor?” That was the question host Chris Harrison kicked things off with Monday on Bachelor Live. As it turns out, the Girls star has a special place in her heart for the ABC reality show.

“I mean, it goes so deep,” Williams told Harrison and fellow guest Michelle Collins. “I would not be married to my husband if it weren’t for this show. We went to a weekly viewing party every week, and it was like a big group date, but with both genders equally distributed.”

What about Michelle Collins? If romance found Allison via The Bachelor, it surely also found Michelle. Right? Nope. “I watch the show alone,” The View host said. “Where’s my camera? I met nobody through it, and I have nobody. OK.”

And another one bites the dust at The View.

Co-host Michelle Collins has been fired from the morning talker, our sister site Variety reports.

Collins went through a trial run on the program before becoming a permanent co-host last fall for Season 19. However, starting in January, her presence was reduced to one or two appearances a week. She is expected to stay with the show through the end of the summer.

“Michelle is smart, opinionated and funny,” an ABC spokesperson told Variety. “She’s been a great addition to the panel this year. When we are ready to make an announcement about next season, we will.”

Despite the frequent co-host turnover at the gabfest, The View was renewed for Season 20 back in February.

Whoopi Goldberg may be ready to disappear from “The View.”

The outspoken Oscar winner has informed friends she’s fed up with ABC’s morning chatfest and wants to bail from the panel, where she has held forth on topics weighty and trivial since 2007.

“Whoopi has told those close to her she will exit the show,” said one daytime TV veteran, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Whether she really means it or could be persuaded to stay remains to be seen. Goldberg, 60, is in talks with ABC about extending her contract, which is up at the end of this season. Making noise about leaving is a time-honored tactic used to increase bargaining leverage.

The network bosses seem open to an agreement. “We want her back and are trying to make that happen,” said a source close to the show.

But change of one sort or another is likely coming to “The View” soon. Raven-Symone, who joined the panel last year, probably won’t be returning, one insider said.

The remaining panel members are Joy Behar (the sole original cohost), Michelle Collins, Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris.

Over the years, Bear Grylls has made quite a name for himself – a name that’s now pretty much synonymous with drinking urine. And Thursday’s instalment of Mission Survive was no different.

Well, it was a little in the sense that it was poo, not wee. Oh, and it was from an elephant.

After gazing lovingly at some wild majestic elephants in their natural South African habitat, Bear informed the remaining four celebs on his survival challenge that they were about to taste the delights that came out of its rear.

He announced he’d pre-boiled some for them to make sure there was no bacteria – how thoughtful – and Michelle Collins, Jason Gardiner, Samantha Barks and Alex Scott took it in turns to slurp on the murky liquid.

And to put it mildly, viewers weren’t exactly jealous.
