The 89th Academy Awards show was certainly one for the books. After it was all said and done, front-runner "La La Land" won 6 out of its 14 total nominations including best actress and best director.

But the most shocking moment of the night went to "Moonlight," which won best picture, after "La La Land" was mistakenly announced.

"This is not a joke," a producer from "La La Land" said while standing on stage, correcting the big error. Then, the cast and crew of "Moonlight" eventually took the stage and accepted the award.

In addition to the best picture win, "Moonlight's" Mahershala Ali took home his first Oscar for best actor in a supporting role and the film's writers Barry Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney won for best adapted screenplay.

"Fences'" Viola Davis also took home her first Oscar for best supporting actress and got an enthusiastic standing ovation from the crowd.

"I became an artist and thank God I did because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life," she exclaimed while breaking down as she thanked her parents, her sisters and her husband and child.

Casey Affleck and Emma Stone chose to pay homage to their fellow nominees. Affleck called Denzel Washington "one of the first people who taught me how to act." Stone said, "it's such an honor to stand beside you!" and added, "Ryan Gosling, thank you for making me laugh and being the greatest partner."

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have shown that they are still very much in love after nearly ten years of marriage by performing an adorable lip-synch to Keith's hit single The Fighter while in the car together.

SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO

In the video, which the country music singer posted to his Facebook page, the couple begin listening to the track as Nicole shouts "oh my God I love this song!" before Keith adorably begins to serenade his wife and she giggles at him, joining in with the chorus.

The couple were all smiles as they performed the song together, and fans have been quick to praise the pair's sweet relationship. One fan commented on the video: "I love how Keith and Nicole are having so much fun together! I wish more celeb couples would share clips like this. Thanks for being REAL PEOPLE". Another wrote: "It's amazing how the right partner can truly make you shine and bring out the best!! Keith is her knight in shining armour".

Keith and Nicole will be celebrating their ten year anniversary in June, and the singer revealed to Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show that his wife will be meeting him in Boston during his tour to celebrate the romantic day together. The singer also spoke about how he felt his life only began when he met his wife. He said: "someone asked me if it was life changing meeting her. And I said that I think it was more like it was the beginning for me.

Hollywood stars, music moguls and fashion models strutted tech-inspired glam at the Met Gala Monday, working their friend-of-fashion poses on the giant staircase of the "Oscars of the East".

From pop icons Beyonce, to Lady Gaga, and a cheeky Madonna, to a goth-looking Taylor Swift, and almost unrecognizably intergalactic Katy Perry, it was the most glamorous night of the year in a city that likes to dress up.

Supermodel Gigi Hadid posed with pop star significant other Zayn Malik, who wore a metallic arm contraption.

Hollwood heavy hitters Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp and Bradley Cooper, also turned out looking more old-school than sci-fi.

Hosted by American Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the benefit brought out stars of film, television, fashion, politics and sports: from Lupita Nyong'o with a towering hairdo, to Kim Kardashian posing away in a metallic outfit that looked ready for NASA.

In line with the technology theme, there was an abundance of black and metallics, cutouts, thigh-high boots and a few people in princess dresses who did not know there was a theme.

The gala, held the first Sunday in May, raises money for the Met's Costume Institute. It picks out a theme each year and attendees are encouraged to embrace it and run with it.

This year, the theme was "Manus X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology," which is also the title of the Costume Institute's big annual exhibition opening May 5.

"Fashion and technology are inextricably connected, more so now than ever before," said Thomas Campbell, director and CEO of the Met.

"It is therefore timely to examine the roles that the handmade and the machine-made have played in the creative process. Often presented as oppositional, this exhibition proposes a new view in which the hand and the machine are mutual and equal protagonists."

- About 600 guests -

Fashion fan actresses Zoe Sandana and Blake Lively were among those sweeping up the staircase to the gala; the event costs 30,000 dollars a ticket, or 275,000 dollars for a whole table.

After dinner, there was dancing with guests such as designers Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, Tory Burch, Christopher Bailey, Marc Jacobs and Prabal Gurung.

Then there was Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Dakota Fanning, Kate Hudson -- as well as Monaco's Princess Charlotte Casiraghi beside actor-musician Jared Leto.

Actresses Mindy Kaling, Kerry Washington, Lena Dunham and Sarah Jessica Parker went for black or white; and models Naomi Campbell, Karlie Kloss, Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, all took time to wow the crowd.

Singers Bette Midler and Nicki Minaj both went for almost sci-fi black.

After the red carpet, the press is sent packing to keep a hint of mystery alive. Guests are asked not to post anything on social networks.
