When Aussie indie rocker Courtney Barnett found out she was nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy, it wasn’t a complete surprise, but it was a bit of a shock.


As she tweeted on Dec. 7, Barnett found out about the nomination after wrapping up a long international flight from Paris to Abu Dhabi and finally back home to Melbourne. It was then that her drummer Dave Mudie turned on his phone and read the news.

“There were some whispers that it might happen,” she says, in a phone interview from her home in Melbourne, while taking a break from her relentless touring schedule for the holidays. “But I didn’t really think it was a possibility, to be honest.”

Living with the news for a few weeks hasn’t changed her initial response. “It’s been the same kind of reaction since I found out,” she says. “Slightly crazy, but kind of nice to be recognized on that level. It’s great.”

Season six of “Game of Thrones” will premiere on April 24, HBO announced Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena.

While details are scarce about the plot for the upcoming episodes of the hugely popular fantasy series, a teaser released late last year suggests that it will address the season five cliffhanger that left fans guessing if Kit Harington’s Jon Snow was alive after he was the victim of a Julius Caesar-like uprising.


The season also marks the return of Isaac Hempstead-Wright as Bran Stark, a character who has not been seen since season four. New cast members this season include Max von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven (a character first played by Struan Rodger) and “UnREAL” actor Freddie Stroma as Dickon Tarly, the brother of John Bradley’s Samwell.

Wearable technology is nothing new but a sports bra that can track your fitness activity takes smart wristbands to a whole new level – and could be worth splashing your Christmas cash on (if you’ve got any left).

The clever little bra in question, called the OMbra, records your biometrics and streams them to your phone – letting you know exactly how beneficial your workout was by measuring metrics such as distance, heart rate and calories.

A gauge also measures cumulative fatigue, by keeping an eye on your state of rest before, during and after a workout using heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV) and breathing.

“Most technologies only use HR to estimate a state of fatigue,” said OMsignal, the company behind the bra. “Few technologies, like OMsignal, can also measure HRV. Only OMsignal adds an additional layer of accuracy by factoring in your breathing, a biometric that can vary (relatively) just as much as your heart rate when exerting yourself.”

The biggest question that perturbs the nation today is whether Salman, who is acquitted of all charges in 2002 hit-and-run case, will now get married and the second biggest question is who he would marry if at all he decides to tie the knot in the near future.

Katrina Kaif’s passionate, enticing dance moves with Aditya Roy Kapur in Pashmina song from Fitoor – the Bollywood adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Great Expectations – is spectacular and deeply engrossing, like poetry in motion.

The choreography is brilliant, albeit its likeness to Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, and Katrina looks dreamlike and flawless. She has certainly come a long way ever since she made her debut a decade back.

The 5’ 8” svelte beauty, who segued into films from the ramp had faced her fair share of judgement despite having a colossal fan base.However, her charm had always come to her aid, and to an extent, her longevity in the industry accounts for that; thanks to her sexy pout, long tresses, and those never-ending legs.

We had reported earlier that Arjun Kapoor, who has bagged the lead role in Mohit Suri's Half Girlfriend, has started to train in basket-ball as his character Madhav is a champ at the sport.

We recently learned that as a teenager, Arjun himself used to play the sport and was also quite good at it, though he had not played for a while. In order to prepare for the role, Arjun has started playing basket-ball with his pals at a club in Mumbai and reportedly, Arjun got quite nostalgic about his teenage years, when he used to play with his friends.

Apart from basket-ball, Arjun is also learning the Bihari diction and accent. Half Girlfriend, which is based on Chetan Bhagat's novel, also stars Shraddha Kapoor.

Single after his nine-year relationship with Kourtney Kardashian ended, Scott Disick is now dating Swedish model Lina Sandberg, multiple news outlets reported on Monday. It’s a very new romance.

Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma's recent film Killing Veerappan revolved around an Intelligence operation aimed at apprehending notorious poacher Veerappan and now, the filmmaker is gearing up to make a film on the Vangaveeti family from Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh.

Taking to his Twitter page, Ramu wrote, ''It all started with Vangaveeti Radha killing and ended with killing Vangaveeti Ranga ....My next film's name is "Vangaveeti". Film starts with the raise of Radha and ends with the death of Ranga..That's why I am calling the film Vangaveeti. The film "Vangaveeti" will tell the actual reality of the realities of Vangaveetis."


For those who do not know this, the Vangaveeti family was a powerful political family from Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh. After Radha Krishna was killed by Communists, Ranga took over the charge of his brother's legacy and became more popular in his own community.
