For someone who’s naked as often as Rihanna, it’s no small feat to be so groundbreakingly stylish. The CFDA wasn’t kidding when it named her Fashion Icon of the Year in June 2014; she accepted the honor by showing up in this.
While we’ve watched her every move for a decade, that moment was a game changer—and she’s stepped up her style ever since. Nowadays, whether she’s working emerald fur Versace, a “cake dress” that actually looks delectable, or not much at all, “The way I dress just depends on how I feel,” she says. “I never have to psych myself up. Usually it just feels like it works.”
Rihanna wears a peacoat, culotte jumpsuit, socks, pumps, and baseball cap on Jan. 7, 2016 in New York City.
Rihanna loves making a statement with her footwear, and her most recent appearance was no exception. The super star was seen out and about in New York sporting a classy navy peacoat-and-culottes look, accessorized with a “dad hat” (i.e, a baseball cap) and some pointy white pumps and matching ankle socks. Though heels and socks is a look used frequently in editorial, it’s not often we see someone actually trying it out IRL. Though naturally, if someone’s going to be bold enough to pull it off, it’s Rihanna. (PS—her “I Came to Break Hearts” cap is by Nasaseasons.) (Photo: Getty)
