Brie Larson took home the Oscar for Best Actress at this year's Academy Awards after a string of high-profile wins leading up to the big night.
Larson, whose nuanced performance in the emotionally charged drama, Room, has received universal acclaim, gave a heartfelt and earnest acceptance speech, thanking everyone involved with the success of the film, including the moviegoers.
She made sure to give a special thanks to her adorable 9-year-old co-star, Jacob Tremblay, for being her "partner through this in every way possible."
Backstage, Larson was given a chance to elaborate on her acceptance speech, during which she dedicated her award to "the men and women who have survived sexual abuse."
"I was trying my best to tell their story and I hope I did right by them," Larson elaborated.
It was the first Oscar win (and nomination) for the 26-year-old actress, who previously garnered rave reviews for her work in The Spectacular Now and Short Term 12, both in 2013.
