Máxima was the queen of elegance as she carried out her first day of engagements in Pakistan on Tuesday. The Dutch royal, who is on a three-day tour of the country, is visiting in her capacity as the United Nations secretary general's special advocate for inclusive finance for development.
The focus of her trip is to promote financial access for all, and Máxima's visit comes after Pakistan launched its national financial inclusion strategy last year.
Shortly after touching down at Islamabad airport, the royal headed straight to her first meeting with the State Bank of Pakistan.
Changing out of her travelling clothes, Máxima gave a nod to her host country and opted for more traditional wear for her meeting.
King Willem-Alexander's wife looked elegantly chic in her chocolate brown silk blouse, elaborately patterned skirt and matching shawl. Always one to accessorise, she added a pop of colour to her look with turquoise oval drop earrings.
Her meeting was to discuss how banks are making financial services accessible to more people, and is just one of the similar engagements Máxima will carry out during her visit.
The 44-year-old queen, who has never visited the South Asian country, will attend round-table discussions, meet with the World Bank Group and be introduced to the Benazir Income Support Programme. The latter gives financial support to women through digital bank accounts, increasing their independence.
