The show stars Melissa Benoist as Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, but who hides her identity as Cat’s assistant Kara Danvers.
Speaking at a celebration of the series at Paleyfest in Los Angeles, Calista contemplated the feminist leanings of the two roles.
She said: “Feminist means something different to everybody, to me it means choice.
“We are not fighting the battle our grandmothers fought to get the vote or go to college, we are passed all that. So there is a second, third, maybe fourth wave coming on.
