The One Show's Alex Jones needs a 'hot shower' after Hell On High Seas challenge

The One Show’s Alex Jones has said she is looking forward to “a hot shower” and some food after completing the Hell On High Seas BT Sport Relief challenge.

The voyage by sea from Belfast to London raised £944,288 for the charity, as revealed on Friday’s edition of The One Show.

Alex, alongside TV presenters Angellica Bell, Suzi Perry, Ore Oduba, comedian Hal Cruttenden and Plebs actress Doon Mackichan, endured freezing temperatures and rough seas during their five-day feat of physical, mental and emotional endurance.

On the second day, the celebrity crew were forced to seek shelter from a storm after the coastguard issued a gale force 10 warning.

“It’s such a relief to be back on home turf,” Alex told her One Show hosts as their carbon-fibre Volvo Ocean 65 boat crossed the finish line at Tower Bridge. “But I tell you what, it’s been a real privilege today cruising on this magnificent boat up the Thames in the glorious sunshine,” she added.

“The overriding feeling is of sheer relief. It’s been really tough, it’s been really difficult at times. The feeling that we all felt for the majority of our journey was sheer fear.”
