Patrick Kong hopes "Anniversary" was not breakup catalyst

Hong Kong director Patrick Kong admitted that he felt slightly guilty after hearing the news about Stephy Tang and Alex Fong's breakup.

As reported on HK Top Ten, the director, whose film "Anniversary" was the last movie that featured the former couple, expressed hope that the movie was not the catalyst to the breakup of their decade-long relationship.

"I hope the movie did not affect them, because I had waited seven years before asking them to do the movie," he said.

"Anniversary", which was released last year, is a continuation of the love story between newlywed couple Ah Wah (Alex Fong) and Bo (Stephy Tang) – the couple from the 2006 film, "Marriage with a Fool" – and the ups and downs of their marriage after ten years.

Although "Marriage with a Fool" was the movie that started the romance between Alex and Stephy, the actor previously admitted that the 2015 movie also had a part in their decision to end it.

When asked if he would make another movie to help Alex and Stephy rekindle their romance, Patrick responded, "I have to see if there is something suitable. But in the meantime, there is no plan for us to work together."
