Pia Wurtzbach immortalised on national stamp

Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach is now part of the Philippine Postal Corp.'s "Living Legends", as her image gets immortalised on a PHLPost stamp.

As reported on GMA News, the 26-year-old beauty queen, who brought glory to the country through her victory at the Miss Universe pageant last year, received her own stamp during the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 winners' tea party, held at the Novotel in Cubao, Quezon City.

Joel Otarra, Postmaster General of the PHLPost, stated, "It is our privilege to personally present to Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach her own stamp as this is equally important to us because it's seldom for us to issue a stamp to a living person. She will now join the roster of PHLPost's Living Legends."

The PHLPost has also printed a total of 101,000 pieces of the commemorative stamps featuring Wurtzbach, and 5000 pieces of souvenir sheets.

Among other Living Legends who graced the PHLPost stamps are the 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, and 2013 Miss World, Megan Young.

Wurtzbach has expressed her gratitude on Instagram towards the honour that was given to her.

She wrote, "As a little background story, posts are very seldom awarded to those who are still living, which means they have seen me as someone who is worthy of this honor and who has brought pride to the Filipino community. Thank you for this!"
