It is difficult for a fanbase to accept any changes to a film or drama that they love, and the lacklustre reception to the news of the new "Encantadia" stars seemed to have proven this.
But Sunshine Dizon, who played the 2005 version of the keeper of the fire gem Pirena, hopes that fans of the original would not prejudge the show before it even made it to air.
"Let us not be quick to judge, and avoid using hurtful words. Instead, let's celebrate that we are all lucky to witness the magic again," she wrote on Twitter recently, following backlash from fans who weren't happy with the choices of actors.
Earlier, it was revealed that Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya Lopez will be playing the role of Pirena, Amihan, Alena, and Danaya, respectively - the roles originally played by Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle, and Diana Zubiri.
However, some fans quickly expressed their frustration over the news, saying that the new stars do not have the same charisma and charm as the four original stars.
Dizon, on the other hand, was ecstatic with the new cast members, and even congratulated de Castro for getting the role so close to her heart.
"Let's all support the new cast members of "Encantadia". I'm pretty sure it will be great," she posted online.
