Actress Hayden Panettiere has admitted she has been using “unhealthy coping mechanisms” to deal with post-natal depression.
The Heroes star said she had decided to “take time” to deal with her health issues “holistically” as it was revealed her American television series Nashville has been cancelled.
She wrote on Twitter: “The postpartum depression I have been experiencing has impacted every aspect of my life. Rather than stay stuck due to unhealthy coping mechanisms I have chosen to take time to reflect holistically on my health and life. Wish me luck!”
The 26-year-old has spoken openly about her battle with post-natal depression following the birth of her daughter Kaya in 2014 with boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
In September, she told the US television show Live With Kelly And Michael that there was “a lot of misunderstanding” surrounding the condition.
She said: “There’s a lot of people out there that think that it’s not real, that it’s not true, that it’s something that’s made up in their minds, that ‘Oh, it’s hormones.’
