China says no to "uncut version"

In another fascinating news about the Chinese Censorship Board, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television has added another don't in their "do's and dont's" – by prohibiting what they called an 'inappropriate hype', ECNS News reported.

By this it means that the media, TV networks, video websites, and any production entity should never promote dramas or TV shows' "uncut versions", "full versions" or "deleted scenes".

Deputy Secretary General of the SAPPRFT Screenwriters Committee, Yu Fei stated that any drama that had undergone further editing after the board's review is considered the final cut.

"The version should be the same no matter what the platform of broadcast is. There should be no such thing as an uncut version. Anything else is just hype," said Yu.

For example, after undergoing major editing due to its cleavage-bearing costumes, the only version of Fan Bingbing's drama, "The Empress of China", that can be shown to the public is the one that has been approved by SAPPRFT, no matter what platform was used to show the drama.
