Huading Awards clarifies Best Leading Actor controversy

The Huading Awards sparked criticisms recently following the release of its nomination list, after it was revealed that actor Wang Kai was nominated for Best Leading Actor for his work in "The Disguiser".

As reported on Liberty Times News, fans of the show recently expressed dissatisfaction upon hearing the news, saying that it was unfair since Wang Kai was not the lead star in the drama.

Even the producers had expressed confusion over the announcement, since the actual lead actor for the drama was Hu Ge.

They announced on their official Weibo, "The drama's male lead is Hu Ge. We have never sent applications to the Huading Awards in regard to the nominations."

They also stated that they are currently trying to resolve the matter with the organiser.

On the other hand, the Huading organiser stated that nominations were made based on popular votes by viewers. It also clarified that Hu Ge was already nominated in the same category for his role in "Nirvana in Fire" and that an actor can only be nominated once per category.
