Janet Jackson 'expecting first child' at nearly 50

Pop star Janet Jackson is pregnant with her first child at the age of 49, according to reports.

The American singer postponed the second leg of her world tour last month after telling her fans she was planning for a family.

Several news outlets reported that Janet, who is 50 on May 16, is now expecting a child with her husband Wissam Al Mana.


Janet announced she was halting her Unbreakable tour by posting a video on Twitter in April.

“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change,” she said. “I thought it was important that you be the first to know my husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour.

“Please, if you could try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”

America’s Entertainment Tonight said a source had confirmed the news of Janet’s pregnancy. A spokeswoman for Janet refused to comment.
