Joe Chan disappointed with "Blue Veins'" viewership

Despite the commendable average viewership ratings of 25.8 points the series achieved in its final episode, "Blue Veins" producer Joe Chan said that it was not enough for him to call it a success.

As reported on On CC, the producer, who aspires to change viewers' TV watching habit, stated that he wanted to give viewers a different kind of drama when he decided to produce "Blue Veins".

"I wanted to change the viewing habit through the drama. This wasn't the kind of drama where you could watch after a few episodes based on people's recommendation. You need to watch from episode one to understand the whole story," he said.

However, his attempt seemed to be too 'advanced' for viewers who are still comfortable with conventional storytelling. The first two episodes of "Blue Veins" were also criticised by Netizens who were impatient to see the story unfolds.

"As someone who works in television, I want to try out different things. Viewers need to evolve as well," he said.

As for the possibility of a sequel, Joe was not as positive as the cast members, saying that TVB holds the decision whether there should be a sequel or not.
