Second Hand Rose apologises to Mayday

Liang Long, the vocalist of mainland rock band Second Hand Rose, has recently apologised for a misunderstanding concerning his previous remark about Taiwanese band, Mayday.

As reported on China News, Liang earlier made a negative comment on a Chinese variety show about the band – that Mayday plays terrible music and that he doesn't understand them.

The statement angered Mayday's fans, who lashed out at the mainland band for their arrogance.

However, instead of firing back, Mayday's Masa responded with a praise, saying that he thinks Second Hand Rose makes good music and that fans should give them a chance.

On 9 May, Secondhand Rose released a statement to clarify the situation.

The band stated that Liang was actually talking about his first impression on Mayday, but that the programme has edited his statement out of context, making it seem like he was criticising the band.

He stated that the original response he gave in an interview is that he didn't understand the band at first, but was able to comprehend their music on a deeper level after becoming acquainted with more mentors in the rock genre.

They also apologised for the misunderstanding and reiterated that they respect all rockers and their trademark.
