Jay Chou won't encourage daughter to join showbiz

Although many believe that his daughter Hathaway has all the makings of a great musician one day, even at the tender age of ten months, Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou stated that showbiz is not what he had in mind for his daughter's future.

As reported on Now News, the singer-songwriter, who attended Hit FM press conference recently, stated that he is not eager to impose his daughter to do music, but to have an ordinary childhood instead.

"I want her to go to school like other children, and make many friends. I don't want to expose her to social media too much," he said.

And although he would absolutely say yes to Hathaway learning to dance and play music in the future, he is quite hesitant to let her join showbiz.

"It's too hard. I won't want her to see only the glamorous side of the entertainment world. I want her to have her own fresh start, and let her choose to go her own way," he said.

Jay also said that he has plans to give Hathaway more siblings in the future, especially a younger brother who could protect her.

"But right now, I am too busy with work. I have no time to take care a lot of children," he added.

As for his new song, "Lover from the Past", which was inspired by a home video of Hathaway playing a similar melody with a piano app, Jay joked, "She just strums. Her dad is better. Sometimes when she makes a noise, I would just play the song, and she will quiet down."
