Nicole Cordoves places second at Miss Grand International

Philippine's bet Nicole Cordoves was named the first runner-up for Miss Grand International, but not without getting her own share of contempt from audiences during her Q&A segment.

As reported on PEP News, the beauty queen, who placed second behind Indonesia's Ariska Putri Pertiwi, did not receive a welcoming applause in the first part of her answer, when asked if she would choose Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump to help them stop war and violence, which is also the theme for this year's pageant.

"I would choose Donald Trump to stop the war and violence with me because if we choose him to switch to our side, there won't be war and violence anymore," answered Cordoves to the surprise of many.

However, she later received the applause she needed by explaining, "Imagine, someone who would bring so much madness, and so much emotion to these people, what if we use his voice to actually do good for the world? What if we use that to our advantage?"

She wasn't the only contestant who was booed for her response. Miss USA Michelle Leon also suffered the same response when picking Trump as her choice.

However, Cordoves fared better in her speech, which might have been one of the reasons she was chosen as the first runner-up for Miss Grand International.

She expressed, "I stand here tonight refusing to tell the same story to our next generation. Children should fight for their dreams, not for their lives."
