Model sparks fury posing naked in front of sacred site

The nude model jailed for a photoshoot inside an Egyptian temple has caused outrage once again after posing naked in front of the holy Wailing Wall in Jerusalem.

Belgian model Marisa Papen became the centre of a worldwide controversy when she was imprisoned for the night after posing naked in the vast temple complex of Karnak near the Egyptian city of Luxor.

Marisa, who describes herself as a “free-spirited and wild-hearted expressionist” was not put off by her experience in the Egyptian jail however.

She recently did a naked photoshoot in Jerusalem, a sacred city for Jews, Muslims and Christians alike.

“[I want to] show my personal religion in a world where freedom is becoming a very luxury item,” said Marisa.

The Western Wall or Wailing Wall is an ancient limestone wall in the old city which was part of a Jewish temple expansion and a holy site where Jews go to pray.

It is also the site where Islamic Prophet Muhammad tied his steed, al-Buraq, on his night journey to Jerusalem before ascending to paradise.

“It was immediately clear to me that if we could manage to take a picture in front of or near the Wailing Wall, the whole trip would be a success,” Marisa told Central European News.

“We got into a conversation with a super friendly guy, who turned out to be Muslim, and he invited us into his house where we drank coffee and mint tea.”

When Marisa and her photographer Mathias Lambrecht asked if they could visit his rooftop to take a photograph, the man gladly obliged.

“I still had to explain that I wanted to take off my clothes for a picture,” she added.

According to Marisa, the man “was even more chill than we thought” and obliged, although he urged the two to be careful and to only take two minutes so that nobody would see them.

Marisa said she has received positive comments about the photoshoot and some of her Israeli fans have even invited her to visit another time.
