What’s a mom supposed to look like? That’s what Kelly Oxford, author and screenwriter (who just so happens to also have a host of celebrity friends), wants to know after she was shamed for sharing a sexy pic on Instagram.
“I haven’t had a professional photo shoot in awhile,” the 40-year-old mother of three captioned a few photos of herself in a one-piece bathing suit and some unzipped jeans. “But today @ercandedeoglu told me ‘be a boy’ and then my edibles kicked in.” Although Oxford was trying to celebrate the moment, she later added an addendum to address some of the spiteful comments.
“I get so annoyed when people say, ‘You don’t look like a mom.’ What’s a mom supposed to look like? This is a mom,” Oxford said in her postscript. And fellow moms couldn’t agree more.
“Apparently you’re not supposed to be attractive, cool, or interesting when you’re a mom,” one person commented. “That’s only reserved for dads.” While another became supersatirical about all of a mother’s duties. “You just happened to look gorgeous and sultry whilst worrying about the state of the world, work/life balance, the existential crisis that is raising tiny people while feeling like you are still growing yourself…and what you packed for balanced lunches,” adding “#momlife.”
It wasn’t the first time that Oxford has received negative comments having to do with the photos that she posts. Just a few days before, she shared pictures of herself in two different bikinis on the beach, giving photo credits to her children.
