The 27-year-old actress appears to be on the mend after last month’s hospitalization. Although she didn’t share many details about what happened, Hyland has openly talked about having dealt with chronic pain and illness all her life. At age 9, she was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia, which means the organs do not properly develop.
Hyland had to have a transplant in 2012 — and she wears her scars proudly. On her Instagram Story, the Vampire Academy star shared a selfie with her scars visible, adding the hashtag “#scarsondisplay.”
Noticeably absent from festivities was Hyland’s boyfriend, Wells Adams. The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise star celebrated July 4 with the Cyrus family in Nashville. Don’t take that to mean there is trouble in paradise, though. Adams made it clear on his Instagram Story that his girlfriend was on his mind.
