Then: Actress Brie Larson, 14, sported cargo pants and dog tags as she attended the opening of the Twilight Zone Tower of Power ride at Disneyland’s California Adventure theme park on May 4, 2004. Having acted in commercials since she was 6, Larson was best known for her role as one of the daughters in the short-lived 2001 Bob Saget sitcom Raising Dad and as one of the main characters, alongside 7th Heaven's Beverley Mitchell, in the 2003 Disney Channel movie Right on Track. She also had a small part as one of the Six Chicks in the rom-com 13 Going on 30.

It wasn’t until 2005 that she would become a pop star — we’re talking Disney Radio, a ride on a float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and TRL — with her album Finally Out of P.E. (That’s the real name of it, we swear!)

Now: Larson has been deemed Hollywood’s latest “it” girl, thanks to her turn in the drama Room. She earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress and has already swept up the equivalent honor at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice ceremonies. And she’s been cast in the upcoming big budget King Kong origin story Kong: Skull Island.
