Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’
Long run times can be Kryptonite to moviegoers, but chances are that won’t be a problem with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
According to the AMC Theaters website, the DC Comics movie will clock in at two hours and 31 minutes, or 151 minutes.
That is slightly longer than Man of Steel, which came in at 143 minutes, but just shorter than the 2006 box office disappointment Superman Returns, which was 153 minutes. However, Dark Knight Rises remains one of the longest superhero movies to date, with its 164 minute run time.
Starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill as the respective title characters, the movie sees Batman leading a crusade against Superman, believing that the Kryptonian is too powerful to be trusted.
Directed by Zack Snyder, the movie’s cast also includes Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Superman’s girlfriend Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Superman’s Earth mom Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White, and Holly Hunter as a crusading anti-Superman U.S. senator.
The film will set up the Justice League movie, which will also star Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman. That movie is set to premiere Nov. 17, 2017.
