Bill Murray Involved in Cell Phone Throwing Incident, Actor Is ‘Taking Responsibility’

Guess they’re not gonna call Ghostbusters? Bill Murray allegedly threw two fellow diners’ phones off the roof of a restaurant in Carmel, California, on Thursday, February 11 — and the actor is taking full responsibility for the incident.

“What we know is at about 10:30 PST last night [Carmel PD] officers were called to a disturbance at Vesuvio restaurant in Carmel,” Carmel police department commander Paul Tomasi tells Us Weekly. “When they got there, there were three people who had claimed that their cell phones had been taken from their hands and thrown. Two phones went off the roof and one was not damaged, it landed on a cushion on a chair.”

Murray, 65, was no longer at the restaurant when police arrived at the scene, but when police contacted the actor’s reps on Friday, February 12, the Jungle Book actor “admitted he was there last night and is taking full responsibility for the damaged phones,” Tomasi said.

According to the police department, the victims claimed they were not snapping photos or videos of the comedian when the surprise incident took place; Murray allegedly simply snatched the devices from their hands.
