If the naked dress ruled 2015, then it’s already clear that 2016 is all about innovation in the showing skin department. Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, and Jennifer Lopez all stepped out recently in sheer jumpsuits and on Thursday, Jennifer Lawrence wore the next big thing: a naked shirt.
At a charity gala in Beverly Hills, California, the Joy star paired a pair of brown velvet culottes with a mesh statement top. Made from a see-through mesh, the long-sleeved piece was embellished with silver paillettes, artfully (and strategically) arranged. The fashion rule, in general, is to only have one loud piece per outfit, yet Lawrence is far from one to abide by sartorial sanctions. Instead of wearing a simple shoe, she opted for a black stacked sandal from Sophia Webster with a thick, crystal-embellished heel. As far as her beauty look went, she pulled her short blond hair back into a chignon and glowing makeup.
Just days of ahead of the Academy Awards, where Lawrence is nominated for an Oscar for the second time (she took home a gold statuette for Silver Linings Playbook in 2013), she still made time for a cause close to her heart (she recently wrote a blog post airing her grievances for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter). The gala, co-hosted by Patricia Arquette and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, celebrated equal pay for women — in the film industry and beyond.
