If you’re tired of Marvels’ domination of the Cinema, then head over to Netflix because they’re currently tearing up the small screen with an incredible amount of quality TV shows.
The latest is Jessica Jones, a brilliant show starring Krysten Ritter as a hard-drinking, tough-talking private investigator with superpowers called, well, Jessica Jones, who is trying to track down the man who has ruined countless lives including her own, the mind-controlling Kilgrave, David Tennant.
A noir-soaked, gritty tale set on the streets of New York, Jessica Jones is a follow up to the other Netflix/Marvel collaboration and a precursor to their next one, Luke Cage. Over the course of 13 episodes, we are introduced to a group of interesting and diverse characters who have all, in some come into contact with the sinister Kilgrave.
Kilgrave is the best TV villain in a long time, before you even see him on the screen his background presence exudes menace and when he’s on screen the charm of David Tennant mixes with his terrifying power, the ability to tell a person to do something and they do it.
Krysten Ritter, of Breaking Bad fame, is tough as nails and as snarky hell, she has PTSD but by helping others, she is getting through her issues one step at a time. She’s the perfect version of the character and her natural charisma wins through.
