He’s been skulking around bushes and getting punched in the face by Martin Fowler for months now, but last night Kyle Slater finally got his first proper EastEnders’ scenes and they could not have been more heartrending.
The half-brother of show favourite Stacey Slater, Kyle (played by Riley Carter Millington) was forced to reveal that he used to be Stacey’s half-sister, Sarah, when the mum-of-two refused to believe that they were related because she knew her dad only had three daughters with his mistress.
Following Kyle’s big admission, the two characters had a poignant heart-to-heart where Kyle explained to his sister, and indeed the viewers at home, what it was like to grow up in the wrong sex before transitioning as a teenager.
Kyle then revealed that his family had cut all ties with him and he had nowhere else to go, prompting Stace to offer him her and Martin’s spare bedroom.
