Disney Channel announced on Tuesday that casting has begun for High School Musical 4, with Teen Beach Movie director Jeffrey Hornaday at the helm. The announcement comes 10 years after the first High School Musical TV movie became a worldwide sensation, launching the careers of Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and more.
"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for," said Disney Channels Worldwide President and Chief Creative Officer Gary Marsh in a statement. "As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' -- as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise."
Most of the original HSM cast -- minus Efron -- reunited earlier this year for a televised special, and Ashley Tisdale opened up to ET about how it felt to get back together with her fellow Wildcats.
"I just love that we all still love each other and love hanging out with each other and have that connection, you know?" the actress shared. "It was a really special moment in our lives."
