Sanjay Dutt Applies To TADA Court To Get His Passport Back

Sanjay Dutt, who walked out of Yerwada Jail a few days back after completing his sentence in the Arms Act case, has applied to the TADA court, asking for his passport back, which is in the custody of the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation).

The CBI counsel told the court that the agency did not have any objections in returning the passport as there are no pending cases against Dutt. The court is expected to pass an order in this regard today. We believe Sanju is keen to get his passport back now that he will soon start shooting for his comeback film and might need it to shoot overseas.

Dutt was arrested on April 19, 1993, for possession and destruction of illegal firearms, which were a part of a cache of arms and explosives smuggled into India to be used in the 1993 serial blasts.

The actor had to spend around 18 months in jail before he was granted bail and later on July 31, 2007, the TADA court in Mumbai acquitted him of terror charges but sentenced him to six years of rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
