Traditionally, during the Governors Ball that follows the Academy Awards, all the Oscar winners get their names officially engraved on their newly acquired statuettes. This was apparently news to Leonardo DiCaprio who, to social media’s great delight, finally got his name etched on one of those bad bald boys last night.
Variety captured video of DiCaprio visiting the engraving station during the swanky dinner-and-dancing affair, where the Revenant star asked the woman busily inscribing his name on his Best Actor trophy: “Do you do this every year?” After she said yes, he jokingly added: “I wouldn’t know.”
He then received important information about how to maintain and care for his Oscar, though you know he probably has plans to take that sucker straight to Ibiza and get it all kinds of messy. In any case: It’s nice to officially see the name Leonardo on an Academy Award. You finally did it, Jack Dawson!
