Filming for the third and final series of Broadchurch will begin this summer, with David Tennant and Olivia Colman confirmed to reprise their roles as DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller. The pair will head to Dorset, where their characters are called to solve a brand new case.
Also returning for the new series are Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan, who play Beth and Mark Latimer.
Arthur Darvill, better known as Vicar Paul Coates, Carolyn Pickles who plays newspaper editor Maggie Radcliffe and Adam Wilson who stars as Ellie's son Tom will also appear in the eight-part series.
The cast will be joined by new names including National Television Award winner Julie Hesmondhalgh, BAFTA winner Georgina Campbell and Sarah Parish, Charlie Higson and Mark Bazeley who all play significant roles.
The new series sees detectives Miller and Hardy reuniting once again to investigate a serious sexual assault case and the consequences it has on a Dorset community.
A year of research was carried out, focusing on Dorset-based organisations who specialise in dealing with victims of sexual assault, and police advisors who specialise in investigating crimes of sexual violence.
