Lady Isabella Hervey: I intend to be a hands-on mum

Socialite Lady Isabella Hervey has said she will be “a full-time, hands-on mum” and will not rely on nannies to raise her son.

Lady Hervey and her husband, Belgian businessman Christophe De Pauw, welcomed their first child, Victor Michael Maurice, on January 5.

He is named after Lady Hervey’s late father, the sixth Marquess of Bristol.

She told Hello!: “Being a mum is the best feeling in the world – I love it.

“I never really had a close family, but now that I have my own little unit, it has made me happier than ever before.”

The 34-year-old model and actress wants to ensure she is present through every stage of Victor’s childhood.

“I intend to be a full-time, hands-on mum and look after him myself,” she told the magazine. “I had a baby to be a mother, not give him to other people.

“When I was growing up, I had nannies and went to boarding school at six. I didn’t see my mother very much.

“I want to be present for Victor. I want to be there to cherish each moment, to see his first steps, his first smile, his first everything.”

Her son will also grow up speaking English and French, she revealed.
