Good doesn’t always triumph over evil on Once Upon a Time, as this week’s episode demonstrates.
Belle has a chance to right a few wrongs when she runs into her ex-fiancé, Gaston. He’s hell-bent on getting revenge on Rumplestiltskin for killing him, but she’s determined to a) save her husband, and b) save her ex by helping to resolve his unfinished business.
But Belle’s good intentions don’t turn out the way she planned, and unfortunately, she not only ends up dooming Gaston to an even worse fate, but she gives Hades some of his mojo back. And her baby is still contractually bound to him.
Not a great week for the heroes. Chalk one up for the villains.
Ah, Gaston — so handsome, so charming, such a jerk. He’s working in the Underworld’s dog shelter, where Hades comes to pay him a visit. Hades offers Gaston a chance at revenge against Rumple, courtesy of some special arrows that could kill the Dark One.
Gaston starts pursuing Rumple, but Belle intervenes — she thinks she can help him with his unfinished business and send him on his way to the Better Place. Then, Hades offers her a deal: let Gaston and Rumple face each other, with one throwing the other into the River of Lost Souls, and he’ll tear up the baby contract. She turns him down, then figures out that Gaston’s unfinished business has to do with her, because of a book she finds in his work locker.
