A+E Networks, Pulse Films Sign International Distribution Pact

A+E Networks has entered into an international distribution deal with Pulse Films, and its formats and entertainment company East Entertainment.

Vice Media recently took a majority stake in Pulse, which remains independently run by co-CEOS and founders Thomas Benski and Marisa Clifford.

As part of the multi-year partnership, A+E Networks will be the worldwide distributor for both East Entertainment, led by Nathan Eastwood, and Pulse’s format and unscripted television output. Pulse’s television teams include the Unscripted division, helmed by Roy Ackerman and Emma Cooper.

Pulse has grown rapidly in the past year, hiring media veteran Patrick Vien as president, and beefing up its TV offering with key senior hires including managing director Roy Ackerman, the former managing director of Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One Productions, executive producer of “Dream School,” “Operatunity” and “The House I Live In,” and creative director Emma Cooper, the commissioning editor on Channel 4’s “Chicken Shop,” “Teens,” and “Angry, White and Proud,” for Pulse’s Unscripted TV team focusing on factual programming. The division now has projects in the pipeline for a wide range of broadcasters across the U.K. and U.S. Last year, Pulse also launched its entertainment formats company East Entertainment, led by Eastwood, producer of “The Cube” and creator of E4’s “Bad Robots.”

Pulse’s current and past projects include feature films such as Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey,” which premieres in Cannes, Robert Eggers’ “The Witch,” Kahlil Joseph’s “The Reflektor Tapes” and the Sundance award-winning “All These Sleepless Nights.” TV projects include “Payday” (Channel 4), “When Björk Met Attenborough” (Channel 4) and “Sleeping With the Family” (MTV Intl.), as well as brand partnerships with the likes of Audi, BMW, Vodafone, Virgin, Nike, Red Bull, Converse and Chanel.
