Omarosa Says Donald Trump Has a ‘Big Heart’

Donald Trump was conspicuously absent from the White House Correspondents Dinner festivities especially — as President Obama pointed out — given the number of cameras. But his favorite champion, former season one “Apprentice” star Omarosa Manigault, was in the audience as a guest of American Urban Radio, dressed unmistakably in bright yellow.

“It’s a little more chaotic this year. There’s no sense of order,” Manigault told Variety as she shuffled down an escalator into the White House Correspondents Dinner at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night, but not before asking “Hardball” anchor Chris Matthews for a selfie, who happily obliged.

The last time Manigault came to the dinner she was with the Donald himself, who in his absence, took a lot of hits from Obama and Larry Wilmore. But like a good political soldier, Manigault stuck up for her favorite billionaire.

“He has a very kind heart,” Manigault said. “I know him as a person and as a human being. I know his character and his heart, and I know the vision he has for the country is real, and because I have been with him for 13 years I know what he puts his mind to, he does it with excellence.”

She thinks his opponents are making too much of what he’s said about women, and his reaction, as well as that of his supporters, is all fair in politics.

“I’m an African American and I’m a woman, I’ve been around him for 13 years,” Manigault said. “I think I’m the authority on African Americans and women. Donald Trump is an equal opportunity campaigner. If you attack him, he’s going to hit back. When you step on the gridiron and you put on that helmet, and you put on those pads, you are going to get hit. This is not puff ball, or softball. Everyone is in for their candidate. I’m in and I’m down for Donald J. Trump.”
