Showtime series “House of Lies” will conclude after five seasons, the network announced Tuesday.
The June 12 episode, which was shot on location in Havana, Cuba, will serve as the series finale. Filming for the episode marked the first time an American scripted series was shot in Cuba since the restoration of diplomatic relations. The episode was directed by series creator and executive producer Matthew Carnahan.
“‘House of Lies’ is a comedy that has frequently been ahead of the curve,” Showtime president and CEO David Nevins said. “Over the course of its five seasons, it has tackled such hot-button topics as gender identity, wealth inequality, white privilege, police brutality, interracial relationships, and code-switching with honesty and a biting sense of humor.”
“Matthew Carnahan and Don Cheadle have been dream partners and impeccable leaders,” Nevins continued. The core cast of Don, Kristen, Ben and Josh are one of the best comedy teams on television. They have brought the series to an incredibly satisfying conclusion with this historic final episode shot in Cuba.”
The series is based on Martin Kihn’s book, “House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time.” Cheadle stars as Marty Kaan, a management consultant who runs his won consulting firm, Kaan & Associates.
Other members of the cast include Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Donis Leonard Jr. and Glynn Turman. The series was nominated for multiple Emmys during its run, including Cheadle, who was nominated three times for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
