Filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj’s Rangoon has been wrapped up and the film is in its post-production stage. The Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan starrer, which was earlier scheduled to release on September 29, 2016, has been postponed to 2017.
According to a tabloid, the period drama will now hit the screens on February 24, 2017, which happens to be the film’s actor Shahid Kapoor’s birthday weekend too. The team is leaving no stones unturned in getting the best of VFX for the movie, and hence there is a delay in its release.
Confirming the same, director Vishal Bhardwaj told the tabloid, “I am very happy with what we have achieved during the shooting of Rangoon. This film is closest to my heart and I want to make sure this is seen as my best work ever. When we suggested Feb 24th as the release date Kangana was very excited as she is sentimentally attached to February given the exceptional response to Tanu weds Manu which had released in the same period and was also produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Given that it’s Shahid’s birthday on 25th February, there is no better way to celebrate.“
He further added, “For Saif and me, Rangoon has been even more special because it’s been ten years since Omkara and an interesting experience working together again after a full decade.”
Well now this is indeed some good news, especially for all the Sasha fans!
