Taylor Swift and Katy Perry just ended their feud — here's how

This is not a drill: The Taylor Swift–Katy Perry feud is over. We repeat, there is no more “Bad Blood.”

On Tuesday, Swift shared a video on her Instagram Story of an olive branch and handwritten note sent by Perry. “So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch,” she says. “This means so much to me.”

You can read some of what the note says. “Hey Old Friend,” Perry begins. “I’ve been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and these feelings between us. I really want to clear the air…” Perry also writes she’s “deeply sorry.”

(Hey, Taylor… share the whole thing!)

Swift — who kicks off her “Reputation World Tour” tonight in Phoenix — wrote “Thank you Katy” with a double heart emoji.

This marks the end of a four-year rift between the singers. Fans were first made aware of the feud when Swift told Rolling Stone in 2014 that a fellow pop star inspired her track “Bad Blood.”

“For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,” Swift said. “She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, ‘Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'”

Swift continued, “She did something so horrible. I was like, ‘Oh, we’re just straight-up enemies.’ And it wasn’t even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”

(Perry did date John Mayer after he had a brief fling with Swift, but that’s neither here nor there.)

The sabotage Swift is referring to is when a few of her backup dancers on her “Red World Tour” jumped ship to join Perry on her “Prismatic World Tour.” An agent for one of the dancers explained they simply “exercised a 30-day out in their contracts and left Taylor, but Katy didn’t steal them.”

“They just didn’t want to tour with her anymore because there is basically no choreography or dancing in her show,” the agent said.

After Perry caught wind of the interview, she responded on Twitter.

“If somebody is trying to defame my character, you’re going to hear about it,” Perry later told Billboard magazine about the tweet. And we did hear about it — in last year’s Perry’s diss track about Swift, “Swish Swish.”

Although Swift never mentioned Perry by name out of principle (not that it was hard to figure out), Orlando Bloom’s love admitted the song was about her and that it started over dancers. “There were three backing dancers,” Perry told James Corden. “I tried to talk to her about it and she wouldn’t speak to me.”

Despite releasing “Swish Swish,” Perry expressed her desire to squash their beef.

“I’m ready to let it go. Absolutely, 100 percent,” Perry said in a live stream to promote her new album, Witness. “I forgive her, and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her, and I think it’s actually… I think it’s time.”

“There are bigger fish to fry, and there are bigger problems in the world,” she continued. “I love her and I want the best for her, and I think she’s a fantastic songwriter, and like, I think that if we both, her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go, like, ‘Yeah, we can do this.'”

Perry added, “Maybe I don’t agree with everything she does, and maybe she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but like, I just… I really, truly, want to come together, and in a place of love and forgiveness, and understanding and compassion.”

Late last year it was rumored that the superstars did in fact clear the air. E! reported in December that they met up in Miami with Perry filming a cameo in Swift’s “End Game” music video. We never saw that cameo so it seemed like all hope was lost… until today.
