Helen Mirren defies her 72 years to pose topless for cancer charity campaign

Helen Mirren is yet again proving that age is just a number, as she appears topless in a stunning image for a new U.K.-based charity campaign.

The 72-year-old actress looks incredible in the image, which was taken in support of Cancer Research UK, a long-running charity clothing collection. Cancer Research is partnering with TK Maxx to raise money for the treatment and cure of childhood cancers.

Mirren is one of a collection of famous faces who have joined the campaign to encourage people to “give up clothes for good.” The campaign was shot by renowned photographer Jason Bell.

Model and actress Kelly Brook is another celebrity who was photographed for the campaign. She was photographed in a body-hugging gold dress in front of a rack of clothes.

Television journalist Christine Lampard sat on top of a set of lockers full of clothes and bags for her photograph, while Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle playfully poked out from behind a screen.

This year’s brilliantly simple campaign theme, which launches in February to coincide with World Cancer Day, encourages people to donate their unwanted clothes at TK Maxx stores. The clothes are then passed on to Cancer Research UK to be sold in their charity shops.

Aside from helping children with cancer, the campaign has an environmental benefit through the reuse and recycling of goods.

In 2017, it was estimated that there are over 300,000 tons of clothing in household residual waste. The Give Up Clothes for Good campaign has collected over 1.1 million bags of clothing and household goods. This amounts to over 5,600 tons of unwanted items that have been saved from ending up in landfill.

Helen Mirren has often spoken about the aging process and claims she isn’t “setting standards for others.” Well, whether she claims to be setting standards or not, she most certainly is.
