Julius Caesar once said "I came, I saw, I conquered" which is exactly what the lie detector test did – except it didn't conquer it obliterated. It ripped apart the very relationship that had restored our faith in true love. It poisoned by planting seeds of doubt and came close to making last minute easyJet bookings to whisk a broken hearted Dani back to the UK – or Danny Dyer out to Spain to sort out that geezer Jack.
The only relationship left flourishing in the fall out was Dr Alex and Jack’s bromance with the pair sharing a hug as they consoled themselves after being called out by the polygraph.
The most rock solid couple in Love Island history was left broken after the test revealed Jack would be tempted by women outside of the villa. Despite telling Dani he would stay faithful more times than Georgia claimed to be “loyal, babe” she wasn’t convinced, and to be honest who can blame her. It’s not as if he hasn’t cheated on every girlfriend he’s ever had.
Confronting an upset Dani in bed, Jack said: “You went about it wrong, I’m sorry, and then you stormed off, I’ve never stormed off from you.”
In a savage move of get your own back, she fired: “Go away. I’m getting a flight in the morning so you can enjoy the rest of your journey.”
Dr Alex was also in the bin after leaving Alexandra in tears with his lies – to be fair he should never be allowed out after rocking up to the hideaway in a sparkly waistcoat.
Anyway, in what felt like a patient-doctor consultation he told Alexandra: “I feel very attracted to you. We’ve had a sick time. I think we just carry on the way we’ve been going.”
Josh appeared to be delirious from the heat, telling the boys that Dr Alex and Alexandra were really good before the lie detector test proved nothing we didn’t already know – that Dr Alex never wanted Alexandra. Almost as much as he doesn't want sun cream.
New Laura was also left in tears by new Jack’s answers, while Megan broke down over fears Wes’ parents wouldn’t approve of her.
And with the couples at breaking point, Love Island decided to do what every fledgling couple needs – tell them what the outside world really thinks about them.
Wes and Megan were told only 19 per cent of viewers think they will last outside of the villa, while nearly every viewer believes new Jack will dump new Laura.
To top it all off one couple will be at risk of an island dumping tomorrow night. So we guess it’s time to see if the boys can prove themselves, or whether they’ll be heading for The Jeremy Kyle Show.
Love Island is on ITV2, tomorrow at 9pm
