It’s that time of the year when we shiver in our Uggs and trackies while jealously hating on our friends who have scampered off to enjoy the European summer.
And if you’re one of those lucky ducks planning a Greek island getaway or extended Spanish sunbaking session, there’s one bikini trend you might encounter along the way.
Introducing the upside down bikini top that’s popping up on social media.
Said to be the brainchild of Italian model Valentina Fradegrada, you don’t actually need to splash out on new togs to get the look.
All you need is a halterneck bikini, which gets tied at the top to sit over your chest and making it look like the bikini is upside down… hence the name.
It’s a trend that’s slowly been gathering steam, with Aussie label Cantik Swimwear getting in on the action as well, showing one of their models posing in the new look.
However not everyone is a fan of the somewhat impractical look.
“I gotta say, I really don’t like the top that all the girls are wearing,” commented one. “If that’s THE top for this summer I’m bummed.”
“Honestly, these kind of bikinis look s****y,” added another naysayer.
Meanwhile others struggled to understand the precarious logistics of how everything stays in place.
“Tell me does it work its way off when walking?” asked one commenter.
