Lady Gaga provided one of the highlights of the Oscar telecast last year with her salute to The Sound of Music. She’ll return to the Oscar stage this year as a nominee. “Til It Happens to You,” which she co-wrote with Diane Warren, is among the nominees for Best Original Song. The song is from the campus rape documentary The Hunting Ground. This is Gaga’s first Oscar nom; Warren’s eighth.  Their song is vying to become the first all-female songwriting collaboration to win for Best Song.

But the most shocking omission from the nominations list was “See You Again” from Furious 7. The hip-hop ballad by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth was #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 12 weeks. It allowed fans to mourn the death of actor Paul Walker, one of the stars of The Fast and the Furious franchise. The song was nominated for a Golden Globe and three Grammys, including Song of the Year. It’s the first film song to receive a nom in that top Grammy category since Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” 12 years ago
