From the US, to Europe, Middle East, Africa, and even to the Orient, Bollywood’s influence has remained strong over the years. Given its sizable share of audiences outside the Indian border – both NRIs and foreign viewers, it isn’t surprising to see people from other nationalities trying their luck in Bollywood.


Katrina Kaif (British)

The British model caught the attention of director Kaizad Gustad during the London Fashion Week, and he went on to cast her in his movie ‘Boom’. Although her first movie was a flop, Katrina worked her way up to the top, becoming one of the top-paid actresses in B-Town.

Nargis Fakhri (American)

Nargis is of mixed ancestry – her dad was from Pakistan and mom from Czech Republic. She was born and raised in New York. The leggy lady with a sexy pout made her debut with Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar (2011). She is also a recurring face on ramp.

Jacqueline Fernandez (Sri Lankan) 

Former Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez segued into acting from modelling. The 30-year-old boasts of more than 10 movies to her credit till date, after starting with Aladin in 2009.

Hazel Keech (British) 

The ‘Aa Ante Amalapuram’ girl Hazel Keech, who starred alongside Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in Bodyguard, is of British−Mauritian ancestry. She recently got engaged to cricketer Yuvraj Singh.


Amy Jackson (British)

The former beauty queen started with a Tamil movie Madrasapattinam (2010), for which she was nominated for the Vijay Award for Best Debutante. Two years later, she made her Bollywood debut with Ekk Deewana Tha, directed by Gautham Menon.

Elli Avram (Greek-Swedish) 

Elli was familiar with Bollywood during her days in Sweden itself, as a member of a Bollywood dance troupe. She has acted in three movies so far, and has also appeared in the reality shows Bigg Boss.

Yana Gupta (Czech)

The Czech beauty ruled the Indian ramp for a considerable period before trying her luck in Bollywood. She changed her second name to Gupta after getting married to Satyakam Gupta.

Barbara Mori (Uruguayan-Mexican) 

Barabar is of mixed descent; her dad is from Uruguay and mom from Mexico. She played the role of a Mexican girl in Anurag Basu’s film Kites, as Hrithik Roshan’s heroine. That was her one and only Bollywood movie. Mori is a cancer survivor.
