Forget getting down on bended knee in a candlelit restaurant, because one groom to be has just upped the romance anti on marriage proposals by popping the question to his long-term girlfriend live on Twitter.
Durjoy Datta decided to ask his girlfriend of four years, Avantika Mohan to marry him in the most epic way ever, by live tweeting the whole thing. While Avantika was on a two hour flight, the romantic author clued in his Twitter followers about what he was about to do.
Using the hashtag #marrymeavantika, he told his social media following that he’d booked a wedding for them in a week’s time. The only slight hitch was, that he hadn’t yet proposed. Telling his followers that he would be waiting for her at the airport with a placard reading ‘Love of my Life’, he asked for their support in convincing her to say yes.
Here’s how it all played out…
Hi! I’m online for the next two hours. Because i need to tell you guys something. #marrymeavantika
I’m in love with a girl. Not surprisingly her name is. @avanttika! She has inspired almost every woman character of mine!
Now i want help from you guys.. #marrymeavantika
She’s on a flight that’s going to land in another two hours. Let’s bully her into saying yes to my proposal? #marrymeavantika
Also she’s on a flight so she has no idea this is going down. I will be waiting with a placard that says “love of my life”. Could be lame.
Why her? Why not her! She’s only like the best person ever. #marrymeavantika
