Ray of hope shines for Baftas red carpet after wash-outs of past years

The sun has not always shone on the Baftas and bad weather has forced the stars to squelch and shiver their way up a soggy red carpet.

But while Sunday evening is set to be a chilly one, it looks like there will be no need for raincoats or wellies.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said it is “unlikely” showers will reach central London, and although he said he would not rule it out, there is less than a 10% chance of rain in the capital.

He said it would be rather cloudy, adding: “I’d say the umbrellas can stay at home. It’ll be a little bit breezy.”

It could be around 2C (35.6F) to 3C (37.4F) by 9pm – meaning guests should think about wearing a warm coat.
