‘The Gunman Was Like A Xanax Zombie’: Eagles Of Death Metal Singer Jesse Hughes Relives Encounter With Bataclan Killer

Traumatised Eagles Of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes has recalled coming face-to-face with one of the Bataclan massacre gunmen – and said the killer was like a drug-addled “zombie”.

The vocalist added he saw seven people get shot at the Paris concert hall – including two girls he knew and tried to warn to run away – and thought he was moments from death.

Jesse relived his terror in an interview with Kerrang! magazine in which he also told how he witnessed victims refusing to run from the gunmen, which he called “the most beautiful way to die”.

Californian rock group Eagles Of Death Metal was performing in front of a 1,500-strong crowd on November 13 when three jihadist terrorists armed with assault rifles and grenades entered the room and murdered 90 fans.

Among the victims was the Eagles Of Death Metal’s merchandise manager, British-born Nick Alexander.

The attack was part of a series of terrorist atrocities that night, for which Islamic State later claimed responsibility and that left 130 dead.
